Together Time Drop In
Together Time Drop In is for children aged newborn to 6 years and the people who care for them. This free, non-registered drop in provides parents and children the opportunity to play and learn together; Early Childhood Development Workers are on site to help provide activities, information and resources to participants. Come and share in the songs, stories, fun activities and learning.
Summer Time in the Parks
Summer Time in the Park participants will be meeting at Vickers Park on Tuesday afternoons for the summer. Come join us and share in the songs, stories, fun activities and learning in the park. Early Childhood Development Workers are on site to help provide activities, information and resources to participants.
Preschool Play and Learn
Preschool Play and Learn is a fun and free registered program for the preschool aged child (3.5 to 6 years) that is ready to experience a kindergarten atmosphere. This program will feature many of the routines and activities found in our junior and senior kindergarten settings. Please contact 624-2376 to register.
Babies Day Out Parent and Infant Drop In
Babies Day Out Parent and Infant Drop In is a free, non-registered program for parents and their newborn to 12 month old child. Together, Early Childhood Development Workers and Public Health Nurses provide resources and information. Twice per month there is a discussion topic concerning infant health, care and development. Other non-discussion days are filled with fun and stimulating experiences for parents and infants. Check out the Babies Day Out Calendar for dates of upcoming discussion topics.
Caregiver Stay and Play
Caregiver Stay and Play is a time for Caregivers who look after other people's children to meet and explore a variety of activities with the children in their care. An Early Childhood Development Worker will be on site to assist caregivers with the environment and activities. No registration required. Check out the Caregiver Calendar.
Playskills for Children with Autism
This Social Learning Opportunity is designed to give families with young
children (up to 8 years of age) an opportunity to connect socially with other
families who are facing similar challenges. Children and parents will engage in
social activities such as story time, sing song, and much more! Parents will be
encouraged to make friends and establish play-dates outside of the group, as
well as be supported to facilitate social interaction in their young children.
Education and Learning
Parenting can be like riding a roller coaster. Some days it's exciting and fun. Other days you may feel tense and uncertain about being a parent. Sessions will look at some of the common challenges and issues we all often face and offer you practical strategies to use in daily situations. These sessions will be happening at various sites throughout the community. Choose to attend one or all!!! Click here for information on times, locations and registration. There is no cost for the sessions unless otherwise stated and limited child care is provided. To register for each session, please call 624-5690.
Fair Start
In partnership with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit Fair Start provides parents with a time to have their 18 month to Junior Kindergarten aged (3-4) child take part in a developmental screening process. All parents are encouraged to have their child screened, even if there are no concerns about your child's development. It is free and appointments are required; please call 625-8817 to book your child's appointment.

What is Triple P?
Triple P is a parenting program for parents and is supported by 30 years of research. It follows a helpful, positive approach to raising children. The goal of Triple P is to help you create a positive, caring relationship with your children and family.

Triple P is for every parent, whether you have a specific problem or are just looking for advice on common, everyday issues. It provides easy to use tips and new ideas that will help you build confidence and new skills.
What does Triple P Teach?
The Triple P program is built on five principles of positive parenting:
1. Ensuring a safe, interesting environment
2. Creating a positive learning environment
3. Using assertive discipline
4. Having realistic expectations
5. Taking care of yourself as a parent
Triple P offers information and tips on the following main parenting skills:
• Developing positive relationships
• Encouraging desirable behaviour
• Teaching children new behaviours and skills
• Managing misbehaviour
